Love, Laughter, and Enchantment: Kim and Amir's Spectacular Persian (Iranian) Notley Abbey Wedding

Step into the enchanting world of Notley Abbey, where love stories come to life amidst the timeless elegance of this extraordinary venue. Every corner exudes enchantment, and every moment is a treasure waiting to be captured. As a wedding photographer, capturing the magic of Notley Abbey is an absolute pleasure. With a history dating back to 1162, when it served as a haven for Augustinian Canons devoted to the blessed Virgin and St. John the Baptist, this place holds centuries of romance within its walls. And let's not forget its glamorous 1950s legacy, when it became the cherished residence of Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, hosting legendary parties attended by icons like Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, and Kirk Douglas. Needless to say, this venue has an irresistible touch of magic.

When I met Kim and Amir for their pre-wedding shoot at Virginia Water Park, their eyes sparkled with excitement as they told me all they had planned for their grand day that included wo ceremonies and Dad's classic car.

On that remarkable day, Notley Abbey basked in the warm embrace of late summer sunshine. The majestic poplar trees lining the driveway adorned themselves in vibrant hues of green and golden yellow, painting a breathtaking backdrop for Kim and Amir's celebration. Kim was a vision of elegance in her Wed2B gown, perfectly complemented by accessories from the renowned Ellie Sanderson Bridal boutique.

The floral arrangements by the talented Joanna Carter added an extra touch of enchantment to the already mesmerizing atmosphere. From delicate bouquets to stunning centerpieces, Joanna's artistry elevated every corner of the venue, immersing guests in a world of beauty and romance.

Amir looked equally dapper in his long tailed suit and custom panther cufflinks, a wedding day gift from Kim!

The day was filled with love and laughter. A gorgeous ceremony in the ballroom and then off for a sun drenched couples shot round the grounds. The Persian ceremony was filled with the smell of incense in the air and sugar rubbing is a ceremony where a few special women in the couple's life spread more sweetness into their marriage. The ritual involves rubbing sugar onto a cloth held above the bride and groom's heads. Traditionally, the two to four women chosen for this ceremony are happily married women, but modern couples sometimes choose a mix of important figures in their life to take part.

A sunset shoot followed, with dad's classic and the horses in the field next door, where one of them came to say hello!

Traditions continues into the evening with the knife dance where the two aunts and the grooms sister bargain with Amir for the knife. Dancing around the room until he gives in a pays up for the knife. He even decided to join in for a quick dance before cutting the cake!

Kim and Amir, it was an absolute joy and privilege to document your remarkable wedding. Your love and happiness radiated throughout the day, creating moments that will be cherished for a lifetime.
